The Johns Hopkins Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT) is a small, non-profit organisation. As part of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, CAAT is dedicated to improving the health of both humans and animals.
CAAT’s mission is to promote humane science by supporting the creation, development, validation, and use of alternatives to animal testing in research, product safety testing, and education. They seek to effect change by working with scientists in industry, government, and academia to find new ways to replace animals with non-animal methods, reduce the numbers of animals necessary, or refine methods to make them less painful or stressful to the animals involved.
The website of CAAT contains information and news about alternatives and the 3Rs and alternatives. ALTEX: Alternatives to Animal Experimentation is the official journal of CAAT.
